Leytonstone were beaten 2-1 by Horse and Wells in the Essex League Cup Turner Trophy with Zulqi Khan’s goal a mere consolation.
Two second half goals from the visitors saw Leytonstone beaten, but Leytonstone should have killed the game off in the first half when Justin Hounkpatin, Khan, Levi Fletcher & Bradley Williams saw good opportunities go begging.
In the second half, the visitors took the lead when Kash Shabir was unable to clear a long ball, heading only into the path of the Horse and Wells forward who turned and scored off the inside of the post.
Horse and Wells scored again when Leytonstone conceded a corner and were unable to clear, allowing the hosts to double their lead via the shin of Fletcher.
In the 73rd minute Leytonstone pulled one back when Khan slotted beyond the ‘keeper.
Leytonstone/SP Under-11s progressed to the quarter-final stage of the London Counties Cup after beating Athletico DFZ 3-2 on penalties following a 2-2 draw.
A brace from Essa took the game into extra time, before Leytonstone held their nerve in the shootout.
