A schoolboy from Chingford boxed his way to a gold medal in Denmark last weekend having travelled without the support of friends or family due to work commitments.
Michael Oats, 13, who attends Heathcote School beat the Denmark Schoolboy Champion of the BK Vitus Odder Club to win gold.
He did so without the support of his friends and family who were unable to travel to Denmark to support the teenager in his audacious bid for gold.
Oats, who belongs to the Repton Boxing club is himself the British Schoolboy and Three Nations Champion.
The contest was held in Billund and saw Oats bring gold home after emerging from the bout the convincing winner, beating his opponent 9-0 on points.
