Waltham Forest Amateur Boxing Club’s Liam Dillon made it a hat-trick of wins in as many weeks with a powerful display on Saturday.
This time the teenager, pictured, came up against Lynn ABC’s Charles Gervais on their own show at the New Cross Social Club in south London.
Pitted against not only a boisterous home crowd, Dillon also found himself up against an opponent who had secured three wins from his first four bouts.
Dillon remained unfazed though, and the Forest puncher made an explosive start to the opening session and was all over Gervais like a rash, landing some big blows to both the body and head.
The second round was a much more balanced affair, as the home fighter started to find his range.
Dillon had to dig deep in the final session, as both boxers did their best to get the upper hand, although by then he had done enough to score an impressive majority decision from the judges.
Delighted coach Chris Baker said: “Liam was up against a very good fighter, but once again he showed his class.
“I felt he looked a little tired by the end, but he has been working very hard in the gym and hopefully we can get another good display out of him on our show next week.”
Tickets are still on sale for Waltham Forest’s black-tie annual dinner show at the Prince Regent Hotel, in Chigwell, on Friday, November 30.
These are priced £50 each, but as well as a top night of amateur boxing, the price includes a three-course meal.
