Epping Forest District Club finished tenth at the Essex County Winter Long Course Competition in Basildon.

In the 400m freestyle, Chloe-Annabelle Ward won silver in the 400m freestyle with a time of 4.47.32. She also won two bronze medals in the 200m and the 800m freestyle where she improved on her personal best by eight seconds. Ward also came ninth in the 50m freestyle and sixth in the 100m freestyle in the 16 and older age group.

Amelia Peddle achieved two silver medals in the 50m and the 100m backstroke. She also came third in the 200m backstroke with a time of 2.36.65. Her achievements didn’t stop there as she came fifth in the 100m freestyle, sixth in the 50m freestyle, eighth in the 200m individual medley and ninth in the 400m freestyle in the 12/13 age group.

Another swimmer who performed extremely well was Hayden Thomas. After winning silver in the 200m breast stroke, Thomas was third in the 50m and 100m breast stroke before achieving ninth place in the 200m freestyle, 15th in the 50m freestyle and 20th in the 100m freestyle.

Lisa Waite closed the meet for Epping. She finished with an impressive time of 28.89 in the 50m freestyle. This resulted in her winning a well deserved bronze medal. Waite also came in fifth in the 50m butterfly. She also achieved seventh place in the 100m freestyle and the 100m butterfly of the 14/15 age category.

Also representing Epping was Lee Baker. Baker finished fifth in the 50m backstroke and in the 100m freestyle. He also competed in the 100m backstroke where he finished in eighth place, sixth in the 50m freestyle and tenth in the 200m freestyle.

Ellen Gillespie came sixth in the 100m breast stroke. Evangeline Foster managed eighth in the 100m freestyle and 15th in the 50m freestyle.

Coming 11th in the 100m butterfly and 17th in the 50m freestyle was Bentley Cunnington. Connie Knights finished in 22nd position in the 100m freestyle and Fraser Barclay was 15th in the 50m freestyle with a personal best of 28.05.
