A Paul Carr hat-trick fired Toby to an emphatic 5-1 victory over West Bergholt and a place in the fourth round of the Essex Premier Cup.

The eventual victors got off to the ideal start when Carr opened his account on five minutes, capitalising on indecision in the defence to latch onto a ball over the top and finish emphatically from close range.

Toby were unable to add to their advantage before half-time but Ryan Morgan doubled the lead after the restart with a stunning solo effort.

Pulling the ball out of the air on the edge of the box with a fantastic first touch, he juggled the ball around two defenders before finding the top corner with a deft volley with the outside of his boot.

Carr then made it three after he was hacked down in the box and tucked away the spot kick with aplomb.

West Bergholt pulled one back and rallied for five minutes until their new-found resolve was quashed when Mike Rugg finished at the second attempt, having seen his initial shot saved by the keeper.

Carr completed his hat-trick on 85 minutes when he sniffed out a poachers goal to cap off a fine victory.

Buckhurst Hill will be joining them in the next round after returning from Lawford Lads with a 3-1 victory thanks to goals from Sam Cooper, Bolaji Olaitan and Jack Barrett.

Frenford Senior also secured an away victory, this time overcoming Arlesford Colne Rangers 2-1, with Steve Hutchinson and Stuart Williams the scorers.

Wadham Lodge scored five times thanks to a Ricky White hat-trick and a Marcus Samuels brace as they overpowered Tollesbury 5-0.

Ongar Town eliminated M&B Club 3-2, with Niki Love scoring twice and Ben Polley chipping in with the other goal.

Holders Newbury Forest edged out hosts Springfield 2-1.

Both goals came from Bradley Gates penalties, the second of which was scored in the final minute.

In the only Premier Division game, Westhamians scored through Kian Siabi but they lost out 2-1 at home to Harold Wood Athletic.

Ryan remain in the relegation zone in Division Two after Luke Read, Gary Higgs and Jack O’Connor got on the scoresheet to register a 3-0 home win for Leigh Ramblers.

Epping hadn’t won in their last four league games so their 7-4 home victory over Burnham Ramblers Reserves was a welcome three points.

A Jake Clarke hat-trick and strikes from Reece Clarke, Mark McKenzie, Jon Dundon and Sean Garwood secured the three points and kept the victors in the mix for promotion.

In the third division, Forest United saw James Defoe, Fabian Martin, Michale Powell and Christopher Wright all scored but they shipped six at the other end and lost 6-4.
