FC Leytonstone left it late to clinch a thrilling 4-3 home victory over LF Olympico on Sunday – a win which keeps their title hopes alive in the South Essex Sunday Football League.
Olympico started brightly and were awarded an early penalty, only for stand-in Leytonstone keeper Imran Patel to pull off a magnificent save.
The visitors kept pressing however and broke the deadlock, breaking the Leytonstone offside trap to set up an easy finish.
Leytonstone pulled one back just before the break when a lovely through ball played by Sergio Garcia allowed Zulqi Khan to find the net.
The home side improved in the second half and goals from Khan and Justin Hountkapin put their side 3-1 up but Olympico hit back to draw level with minutes to spare.
Leytonstone dug deep though, and Obi Ekochou popped up with the winner in the last minute.
To win the title Leytonstone must win their two remaining fixtures and hope rivals Hammers and Apsa slip up.
