Essex League - Second XI Premier Division
A century from Matthew McKay was not enough as Chingford Seconds’ drew with Chelmsford Seconds.
McKay hit 105, including 20 fours, and was ably supported by Mark Fletcher who scored 41 as Chingford posted 227 with four wickets to spare.
Chelmsford however were not to be beaten easily and despite Kerry Marriott (two for 39), Matthew Smith (one for 28) and Neil Dial (one for 23) all on target, Chingford couldn’t find the wickets to clinch victory.
Chingord Seconds host Colchester and East Essex on Saturday.
Essex League - Second XI Division One
Loughton Seconds’ home match against Upminster Seconds was abandoned.
Jordan Ramsden (four for 30) and Stuart Greenhill (three for 45) kept Upminster’s batsman down to 138 all out but Loughton’s chase was halted on 62 for three with the game called off.
Loughton Seconds travel to Orsett on Saturday.
Fives & Heronians Seconds drew with Orsett Seconds.
Orsett decided to bat and scored 178 for seven before Fives replied with 160 for eight.
Fives Seconds are away on Saturday to Wickford.
Essex League - Second XI Division Two
Buckhurst Hill Seconds put in a gutsy batting performance to draw with Hainault & Clayhall.
Hainault batted first and despite three wickets from Buckhurst’s Daniel Platt, declared seven wickets down on 250.
Buckhurst’s hopes of reaching that total were dented by some early wickets but Ajit Ramasagaram turned the tide with a 50 and Buckhurst finished on 160 for seven at the close of play.
Buckhurst Seconds travel to Harold Wood on Saturday.
Essex League - Second XI Division Three
Epping Seconds were held to a draw by Old Parkonians Seconds.
Epping batted first and Salahuddin Quadir’s unbeaten 57 helped the hosts declare on a total of 251.
The Parkonians attack was led by Victor Yatheesh who ended with impressive figures of five for 73 runs.
The visitors reached 152 for the loss of five wickets with Harry Markatis finishing unbeaten on 70 as Epping were unable to get the wickets required for victory.
On Saturday Epping Seconds travel to Harlow Town while Parkonians Seconds face a trip to Frodsham Seconds.
Woodford Green Seconds suffered an eight-wicket away defeat to Belhus.
The visitors batted first and scored 134 all out with number ten Shazhad Riaz top-scoring on 31.
That total proved insufficient however as, despite Asad Ijaz bowling well (two for 22), Belhus cruised to victory for the loss of just two wickets.
