Debden Park High School were celebrating an impressive double after their Year 10 and 11 football teams both managed victories in the West Essex Cup final.

The Year 10 team won in emphatic fashion against West Hatch 10-1, while the Year 11s beat Burnt Mill 3-1.

Having lost consecutively in their previous two appearances in the final, the Year 11s at last ended their disappointing run of results at the final hurdle.

They had played Burnt Mill in the league prior to the final and had lost 2-1, but it was Debden Park who were victorious on this occasion.

They took the lead after a tight and competitive start to the game when Alfie Moulder latched onto a through ball and rounded the keeper to score.

But Burnt Mill soon equalised as their midfielder ran through the Debden Park defence and beat Dylan West in goal with a shot from outside the area.

Debden Park took the lead again as the Burnt Mill keeper could only parry a shot into the path of Charlie Keys for a simple tap in.

The lead was then stretched to two goals as Moulder got his second of the contest, firing past the keeper from inside the area.

Unlike the Year 11 team, the Year 10s have managed to win the competition three times in the past and looked set to win their fourth after scoring three goals in eight minutes courtesy of Alfie Moulder (2) and Joe Lane.

West Hatch did get a goal from a free-kick but Debden Park responded with another three before half-time from Moulder, Sam Avery and Recco Fairchild.

The two teams had met before in the league with the game ending in a 2-2 draw, but the final was far from close and Debden Park eased to victory in the second half with further goals from Moulder (3) and Lane.
