Old Loughtonians clinched back-to-back victories after a 2-0 win at St Albans in the Conference East Division.
Loughts travelled to Oaklands College lifted by their 4-1 win over Oxted in their previous outing.
A powerful James Jewell dragflick was effectively closed down but the rebound fell conveniently for Stuart Hardy who flicked the ball into the goal from four yards out to give Loughts a ninth minute lead.
Despite concerted pressure for the rest of the half, the visitors failed to add to the scoreline.
In the second period, intricate play down the right hand side of the pitch ended with the ball being passed to Ed Mortimer around the penalty spot area.
A deft finish by Mortimer into the bottom left hand corner of the goal saw Loughts double their lead in the 56th minute.
St Albans did not give up and were denied by a save from Dave Forrester as they earned their second clean sheet of the season.
Old Loughtonians completed a successful weekend on Sunday after a 6-0 win over Bournville in the second round of the cup.
Jewell and Hardy both scored twice with Tom Watson and Simon Coles on target. The next round of the cup sees Old Loughtonians travel to Lewes.
Old Loughtonians Ladies suffered a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Harleston Magpies on Saturday.
After a tight first half, the Magpies were too strong after the break and pulled away from Loughts for the win.
