Woodford Under-15s claimed their first win of the season in Essex Under-15s League Division Two as they thrashed Harlow 54-7 at home.

Woodford started strongly and showed clear attacking intent from the kick-off.

They went ahead after six minutes as Euan Fay off-loaded to Anthony Hamilton and he had the space to run in under the posts. Alex Marks successfully kicking the conversion.

Harlow responded and their attacks intensified. A series of important interceptions from Woodford were not enough to keep the visitors out and they scored a converted try to level the score.

Woodford then took control of the contest. They restored their seven-point advantage when Marks touched down and then added the extras.

Woodford were dominant at the lineout. Tom Mead received and passed to West. The ball was moved on through several hands before Dan Farrelly had the room to score.

With a tricky kick in the wind from the right, Marks did superbly to convert.

The home side were dominant and they extended their advantage before the break. Rob Yiannakou found Jed West on the left wing and he powered through to score under the posts. Marks was again on target with the conversion and Woodford’s lead at the interval was 28-7.

The hosts controlled the second period well and added to their total throughout the half.

The Woodford pack were in aggressive mood and drove forward with ease. The ball was eventually fed to Hamilton and he sprinted over the line with Marks again on target with the boot.

From another well-worked scrum, Marks, Harris Sohoye and Farrelly combined, before Mead made another well-placed short pass to Fay.

He completed a searing drive for the line and another Woodford try was scored. Marks defied the windy conditions again to convert with aplomb.

Max Venditti then grabbed the home side’s seventh try of the contest, Marks again converted and the scoring was rounded off after Hamilton scored his fourth try of the afternoon and Marks added the extras.
