New Leyton Orient boss Danny Webb said it was his decision to keep out goalkeeper Alex Cisak from the starting line-up in their 2-1 loss to Carlisle United.

Gavin Massey opened the scoring before Gary Liddle and Jamie Proctor both scored from rebounds to ensure the three points went to The Cumbrians.

There were many rumours flying around before the game whether the Australian had opted not to play or was being frozen out but the 33-year-old insisted it was his choice alone.

“I had a good chat with Alex during the week, it was always in my mind to play Sarg (Sam Sargeant). It has not anything Alex has done,” said the former Southend striker.

“He has not been at fault for loads of goals and I don’t want people to think because we are second from bottom Alex Cisak is at fault.

“It was just a change. If you leave an outfield player out it does not get as much recognition and I appreciate why. Alex has trained really well this week.

“We have three really good goalies and Alex is the most experienced one but I believe in Sarg and I thought he done really well today.”

New Orient signing Jordan Green also had to miss out due to registration issues with his loan move.

The club announced before the game Green was unavailable for selection with Bournemouth appealing to Fifa in order for the transfer to go through.

When asked about his transfer situation Webb joked: "The situation is when you are down there nothing goes for you and paperwork tends to go missing.

"It is disappointing. I had a nice relaxing afternoon yesterday ready for this game and I had quite a lot of missed calls saying there have been a few problems with Jordan's paperwork.

"That is it. We are hoping now, as I think it is a mistake from Bournemouth's end, so we are hoping now it can be rectified and he is available for Tuesday.

"But who knows. When you are the Leyton Orient manager you will see what happens."

Despite losing 2-1, the result did not reflect the performance on the pitch as it was a more positive performance than in recent weeks.

Orient had chances to find the equaliser after Proctor was sent off for a second yellow but just could not find the finishing touch to hit the back of the net.

Webb added: “I thought today was positive. But I am not going to sit here and go that was absolutely unbelievable, what a game.

“They played well, some things bad. We have to be realistic to the position we are in. On paper, we are the second worst team in the league.

“We are not going to go into every game and steamroll it. We can see when you playing the Doncaster’s, the Carlisle’s they are a step ahead.

“Maybe two or three steps ahead. They all know how they play and know what is expected of them. These players have had six or seven different messages relayed to them in the last couple of years.

“Four this year already. My job in particular, in my own mind, is to try and simplify things and try and play with a little bit less fear.

“Hopefully that will work now until the end of the season. As you seen today with the performance was quite positive from what I think, them having a go.

“Not showing as much fear as they have had recently. On Tuesday night we will add another little bit to the pot and another little bit.

“So hopefully we are rocking and get a string of results together.”

The O’s have a busy week ahead as they take on Morecambe at home on Tuesday (7.45pm kick-off) who sit on 32 points, seven ahead of the E10 club.

This match is before they face an away trip to Yeovil Town on Saturday, February 11.
