TOTTENHAM look set to miss out on Villarreal goalkeeper Diego Lopez after the Spaniard yesterday put pen to paper on a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2014.

Spurs had been linked with the keeper after some sparkling performances this season for the Yellow Submarines, but Lopez has insisted that he is happy in Spain and wants to put an end to speculation about his future.

"I have always been very comfortable and very happy here," said the 26-year-old. "I hope that now the rumours and speculation will finish and I can be more calm and be able to help Villarreal get even better.

"For me it is an honour to play at this club, it makes me proud and I feel very happy.

"Two more seasons have been added to the five I already had and this is what I wanted. I had no problem with this extension, we have understood each other well because I am very happy and I want to continue at this club."
