Orient failed to break their home hoo-do against fellow struggler's Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

Individual errors allowed the Pirates to take all three points from the clash at Brisbane Road and sink any chances of a win for Martin Ling's men Orient can count themselves unfortunate to be denied the points.

It meant that the team left the field to a chorus of boo's at the final whistle, after a second half where the hosts had looked more likely to reap the rewards of Dean Morgan's piercing passes from dead ball situations.

Rovers main threat throughout was not League One's top scorer, Richard Lambert, but Jeff Hughes. He threatened Morris' goal most in the early stages, firing a shot into Morris' gloves on 10 minutes, and turning a shot just over the bar under the close attention of his marker on 20 minutes.

At the other end Orient created their chances from the flanks and the crosses of Melligan and later Morgan, who deputised when Thornton limped off in the 37th minute.

Big Sam Parkin was Orient's target man, but he was hustled off the ball too often. Boyd had few scraps to feed on in the six yard box.

Ling swapped Parkin for Jarvis at half time, and Orient became a more potent force.

Boyd and Jarvis linking nicely with cute touch and control.

Melligan had a great early chance. Boyd picked picked him out with a pass across the keeper but it was heavy and narrowed the angle. Keeper Steve Phillips smothered the shot.

The move roused the home fans for the first time, and the players responded in the best way possible.

It was Adam Boyd who broke the dead lock on 56 minutes. He was in the right place in the six yard box to receive a Dean Morgan cross and head it in for a simple goal.

Then, it looked like Orient's home curse might be lifted.

But such hopes were premature.

On 75 minutes, Hughes delivered on his threat and fired Rovers level. Alton Thelwell's attempted clearence turned into a pass across the goal mouth to Hughes, lurking neat the post. He slotted it in under Morris to the delight of the travelling fans in the east end.

And it was Thelwell five minutes later who conceded possession at the back to put Rovers substitute Darryl Duffy clear on goal.

Thelwell had been put in hot water by Melligan who opted to pass back instead of up the pitch.

Bearing down on Morris, who was rushing to meet him, he made no mistake and slotted his shot beneath the keeper to wrap up the win and complete a raid on their East London host's, who can consider themselves hard done by.

Afterwards, manager Ling said he “could not believe” Orient had lost the game.
