Young footballers at Woodford Youth were in action at the weekend.
The under-10’s battled against Harold Hill for a 1-1 draw in the Echo Cup.
Mackenzie equalised in the second half for the Foxes’ after Hill had taken the lead before the break.
Woodford tested HIll’s keeper in the second period but to no avail. Hill won 2-1 on penalties.
Woodford B under-8s side went down to a 4-0 defeat in a friendly against UPR A, but could have scored a hatful if they had not mis-fired in front of goal.
Ellis came close several times. UPR A took advantage of deep defending by Woodford to score their goals.
Hepworth’s efforts earned him man-of-the-match.
Woodford C under-11s took part in a attractive Echo League game against Colebrook Royals B and were unlucky to lose 3-2.
Walker fired Woodford level early in the second half to restore parity. Then Colebrook came strongly with two quick goals.
Kagona was behind Woodford’s second, as he hustled and harried Colebrook into an error which yielded an own goal.
Edelman and Orme shared the man-of-the-match award.
Woodford A under-8s toiled on a muddy pitch in a friendly tie versus Senrab A.
The conditions played a part in Senrab’s opener, an own goal. Woodford foraged forwards hunting for an equaslier and were punished as Senrab capitalised on an exposed back line to grab their second.
Swan produced a moment of class for Woodford’s goal with his shot from the edge of the area.
Thomas was man-of-the-match.
