MORE hints this week that Geraint Williams is poised to sign on the dotted line and commit to Leyton Orient.

Williams has revealed that he is making plans with chairman Barry Hearn for next season.

“We’re planning for next year and I’m talking to the chairman about the budget, and my situation will be talked about along with that” he said.

Eleven players, and the manager too, will be out of contract this time next week.

And that was a point not lost on the boss when he discussed how the squad is getting ready for the final game of the campaign on Saturday, at the Matchroom Stadium.

“My contract is up, players’ contracts are up, so we all have something to play for, to prove that we’re worth re-engaging for next season” said Williams.

Orient go into the clash with Huddersfield having lost two games in a row, against Northampton and Millwall.

The dip in form struck as soon as Orient secured League One status for next season with victory over Swindon, a fortnight ago.

Williams conceded that it can be tricky motivating players for what is a meaningless match for both sides, but said he wants to see maximum commitment for the fans.

“We were safe two games ago. But we have set standards. Now we mustn’t fall below them because it’s too easy to say ‘well, I won’t do it’ and not put that last ounce in. But we must because people pay good money to come and watch us. We want to win games for them.

“I’m sure there’ll be on problem motivating the players for the last home game of the season.”

After the 2-1 defeat last weekend to Millwall, WIlliams called on the team to ask themselves tough questions.

He warned: “If a player gets into my Leyton Orient team he can’t be happy to be there. He’s got to try and be the best player in the team. If you’re happy where you are, then you are in the wrong job. You have got to want to improve.

“He’s got to want to get Leyton Orient promoted. If not, he’s got to want someone to come and take him to a higher level. It’s the same with the coach and the manager. You must never be satisfied.

"It’s vital we don’t slack off. We have to put 100 per cent into Saturday and finish with a home win.”

Striker Adam Boyd is back in injury after recovering from a virus, and could feature on Saturday.

The full list of players out of contract at full-time on Saturday.
