EX-O loanee Simon Church was chasing promotion to the Premier League with Reading on Tuesday night.
The 20-year-old scored five goals and helped Orient escape relegation during his spell at the club, from February up to May.
But he could not stop play-off rival's Burnley from progressing to the Championship play-off final, as Reading lost 2-0.
Church was handed his first team debut by boss Steve Coppell, who quit after the defeat.
