A THUNDEROUS body shot by Aaron Brown secured a win against a fighter with an impressive record.
Aaron Brown, who fights for Waltham Forest Amateur Boxing Club (ABC), beat Adam Dicks, who had won ten of his last 13 fights going into the bout.
Brown, who was returning to the ring after a six month layoff, was made to work hard in the opening stages of the contest but with 30 seconds remaining in the first round he hit Dicks with a powerhouse body shot which left his opponent unable to continue. Glenn Leigh also fought for Waltham Forest ABC in the club's first-ever trip to the Haringey Box Cup, a three day competition at Alexandra Palace, norah London, which saw 280 boxers taking part.
Leigh took on Perry Holland but was outclassed when his opponent won comfortably in the third round.
Ian Cuddy, Waltham Forest ABC's secretary, said: "Aaron's performance was outstanding and what a shot to the body."
However, he was more critical of Leigh's showing.
"Glenn knows he can do better and what we expect of him. We will start from scratch and I expect better performances from him," he added.
Leigh may get a chance for revenge when he takes part in next season's Senior Novices because he could face Holland in the competition.
