LOUGHTON AC's men posted their best result of the season, as they won their latest Southern Men’s League match at the Sandy Track in Bedfordshire.
Loughton scored 99 points, to beat rivals Luton (88) and Biggleswade (76).
Liam McCarthy ran really well on his club debut in the sprints, while Lee Wright set a personal best in the hammer.
Star multi-eventer Gurmukh Sahans secured important points in the shot, javelin, pole vault and high jump, while Mitch Bellham was in excellent form in the high jump, discus and long jump.
Kevin Harper returned from a long absence to give great team back-up, while Hugh Syrist covered the throws and the B steeplechase on his club debut.
Team manager Gavin Harper also covered all the gaps on the team-sheet, as usual.
It was a successful weekend for Woodford Green AC and Essex Ladies in Wales and in Sheffield too.
The female runners were in action at the UK Women's Athletic League Division Two meeting, and ended the Cardiff event in top spot.
The men were at the British Athletic League Premier Division meet in Sheffield, where they finished in third place.
The results are part of a great start to the season for the club.
Highlights of the weekend were provided by local talent Jo Ryan. She set a new personal best to win the women’s 400m in 54.9 sec.
Katie Skelding won the B race in 56.8 sec.
There was praise too for young runners from the club who ran at the competition, and also achieved great results.
Ronnie Sparke front ran the 1500m A event and set a new personal best of 3.53sec. He was just beaten into third place.
Omar Mansour came a close second in the 800m B event. He also set a new personal best of 1.53sec.
Meanwhile, Eton Manor were in action closer to home, at Picketts Lock.
The team managed to claim third place overall.
Jade Campbell came fifth in the U17s 100m. Jane Brown ended in fourth place in the same race.
In the 200m, Jade recorded a personal best of 30.9sec.
The 1500 metres saw Sharon Bollister take second place with a fine time of 5.32sec.
Zoe Woodward won the B event in 5.48sec.
Sharon and Zoe doubled up in the 3,000 metres, with Zoe coming out best, this time by taking second place with a time of 12:08sec, while Sharon won the B event in 12.58sec.
In the 80 metres hurdles A event, Ilayda Aktas finished second with a time of 17.0sec. Imogen Adams won the B event in 17.1sec.
In the field events, Kate Merritt and Pam Ackland-Snow teamed up in the hammer, with Kate throwing 22.39 metres for second place in the A event.
Pam was top of the pile in the B event with her throw of 22.25m.
