EPPING golfer Simon Khan endured a turbulent first round when the US Open eventually got underway yesterday.
New York's Bethpage Black course was flooded after heavy rain on Thursday, causing the day's play to be abandoned. But when Khan and the rest of the field eventually took to the tees scoring proved difficult, with the local professional ending round one on five over par.
World number one Tiger Woods is just one shot ahead of him on four over, while British Open and USPGA champion Padraig Harrington is a shot further back.
Khan will need a strong display in today's second round is he is to stand a chance of making the cut.
