DAGENHAM & Redbridge have signed a right-back from Arsenal.

Abu Ogogo, who is 19, has put pen to paper on a two-year deal to play at Victoria Road.

Daggers boss John Still has drafted in Ogogo as a replacement for Danny Foster, who is off to League One newcomers Brentford.

Ogogo has learned his trade at the Premier League Gunners and comes highly recommended.

Last season he spent time on loan at Nottingham Forest in the Championship, and had a spell at League Two Barnet.

There, he was sent off twice in nine games and scored one goal.

His time at Underhill was also cut short by injury.

Now Ogogo is preparing for Dagenham and Redbridge’s busy pre-season.

Boss Still has had the players hard at work this week, with five massive training sessions, which a club source described as being 'very hard'.

Still has spoken of his fear that the team will struggle to repeat last season’s bid for promotion glory, which ended in final-day despair against Shrewsbury Town, the Daggers just missing out on a place in the play-offs.

Since then, several key players have exited Victoria Road.

However, more new players are expected to sign in the next two weeks.

A club spokesman said that Ogogo was settling in fine.

“He's doing well very well and training hard. We’re extremely pleased. We lost some very good players after last season, but we have brought in good players to replace them. We are full of expectation.”

Jon Nurse has also agreed to stay at the Daggers, after signing a new one-year deal.

The spokesman added: “Jon’s been a great servant to the club and when you have good players, you want to keep them.”
