WOODFORD Green with Essex Ladies athlete Sarah Claxton was unable to bring home gold for Britain at the World Championships in Berlin.
Claxton squeezed through her 100m hurdles heat but failed to make the final, finishing eighth in her semi-final in a time of 13.21 seconds.
“That was a messy run – I hit a hurdle and I just couldn’t get it back from there,” she admitted.
“I lost my balance as well and that was it. I just didn’t pick up my knee and so I hit the hurdle and couldn’t recover.
“But it’s definitely satisfying to get this far, considering the injury I had this year.”
Jeanette Kwakye and Joice Maduaka both travelled as part of the 4x100m relay squads, but neither saw their Berlin adventure get out of the blocks.
