Millwall on Saturday is a good game to come around, on the back of a defeat like we had at Stockport.
It’s a derby and there’s bound to be lots of tackles flying about. Sometimes it’s easier in those games, because there is so much rivalry. That is just what we need after Stockport.
Their striker Gary Alexander used to play for us, and you do not want to play him on his day, let me put it that way. Hopefully he’ll have an off day at Brisbane Road, but I think our strength at the back will have us covered.
The mood in the camp has been a bit tender since the Stockport game. After the final whistle there were a lot of things said which we needed to get out there. We need to cut out individual mistakes and everyone needs to stick to the game plan.
Now we’ve put them aside, and the mood is good. We’re all enjoying training.
It was a sticky journey back down from Stockport because you dwell on the game.
Ben Chorley is quite a vocal person who can help the spirits and Scowy (striker James Scowcroft) is a very funny guy and that always helps when things are going wrong.
But you can’t let it get you down, so we try and take the positives. I know we’re not far away, and that we need to get right the little things that we’re slipping on right now.
We’ve not seen much of Steve (captain Stephen Purches) in the past few days because he has been in hospital with a fractured cheekbone. It’s tough, as he’s one of the most committed players to the cause and so he’ll be a massive miss while he’s away.
It looks like Andrew Cave-Brown will be playing in his place, and he is a very bright prospect for us. He’s confident on the ball and a very good defender. Definitely one for the future. He will not look out of place if he plays against Millwall.
I’ve been down the gym recently, slowly but surely bulking up. It’s not easy but I think it’s got to be done. I haven’t hired a tough drill instructor yet, but I think I might have to resort to one of those guys if this doesn’t work.
