DAGENHAM & Redbridge boss John Still said his players would learn from the disappointing 2-0 defeat at London rivals Barnet on Tuesday night.

Still admitted his side were poor, describing it as 'the worst performance this season'.

But he added: "I have to put it into context. The players have done unbelievably well up to now. The players are not going to go through the season playing fantastically well in every game. It was only our second loss of the season, against a team that's doing OK."

The Bees finished off the Daggers before the break. Veteran Paul Furlong gave them a 20th-minute lead, before John O'Flynn beat Tony Roberts from the spot on the stroke of half-time, Scott Doe having tripped winger Yannick Bolasie.

Dagenham created little. Their best effort came in the 90th minute when Peter Gain clipped the bar with a drive from the angle of the box.

But the second half was a non-event, Barnet having virtually wrapped things up in the first period with a dominant display.

The Daggers never really got going all night.

Still said: "It was a tough evening. I find it hard to think of a save that the Barnet keeper had to make. They played better than us. We didn't do anything to have deserved to have won the game. The quality wasn't there."

While Still graciously gave his former club the credit for their performance, he was angered by the treatment ex-Bee Mark Arber received from fans. The defender was constantly jeered by the home supporters.

"I thought the abuse of Mark Arber was absolutely disgusting," Still said. "I'm very disappointed that a player who played so many games for a club should receive that sort of treatment."

Dagenham, who drew 1-1 with Morecambe on Saturday, have slipped one place in the table to third.

They will be hoping to bounce back this weekend, when they make the trip to Hereford United.
