IF IT was written that this game would not be one for the Classics Collection, it was just as likely to be Scott McGleish who made it special.
The 36 year-old Orient hitman left Wanderers under a cloud last year, but today he brought sunshine to the travelling O's fans on his return to Adams Park.
His header on 76 minutes in front of the away end, after he connected with sustitute Adrian Patulea's pass, sealed three valuable points for Geraint Williams' team.
Now it is six points from three games for the O's.
The Romanian showed he does not fear crosses, unlike a legendary fellow countryman, when he placed a quality ball into the area, just two minutes after he arrived on the pitch.
Patulea is building quite a reputation as an impact player at Brisbane Road, and he certainly added bite at the end of what had been a cagey encounter between two clubs who have made similar bad starts to the season.
This is a valuable win for Orient, and there were other positives too.
Andrew Cave-Brown equipped himself well in place of Stephen Purches. The youngster was assured and showed glimpses of guile going forwards too.
The O's had to ride out a storm in the final few mintues a s Wanderers frantically searched for a equaliser.
Scott McGleish, him again, headed a goalbound header off the line, and Ben Chorley was relieved to see appeals for his challenge on Wandrerers dangerman Matt Harrold waved away by referee J Singh.
This win, their first ever at Adams Park, will be gratefully received by Orient because Wycombe had the best of the chances during this game.
The visitors only tested Wanderers keeper Scott Shearer once in the whole first half.
Jason Demetriou curled over the wall and into keeper Scott Shearer's'palms on five minutes, after Andros Townsend had been floored on the edge of the box.
Throughout, McGleish was involved ub a personal ariel battle with fellow veteran Michael Duberry.
The noises the ex-Leeds man made to referee J Singh after several tussles showed it was no mis-match, despite appearences.
A deflection off his foot during a penalty area scramble on 48 minutes forced Jamie Jones to make a diving save he had not expected to.
Almost straight afterwards and at the other end of the pitch, the 36 year-old was sprinting onto a through ball by live-wire Townsend.
And Jarvis endured another quiet game, Townsend tried his own luck from long range fired over the bar on 53 minutes.
McGleish spurned a golden opportunity to break the deadlock on the hour mark. He put wide from six yards out after Jarvis had laid the ball up for him with a cross from the left.
Jarvis's first touch let him down two minutes later when he was put clear on goal byb Demetriou's through ball. Adrian Patulea replaced him 10 minutes later.
The rest might have written for McGleish.
