WALTHAM ABBEY suffered their fifth defeat of the season at home to high-flying Hastings United in the Ryman Premier Division.
One goal was enough for the visitors to take all three points, leaving the Abbotts languishing near the foot of the table.
Elsewhere, Waltham Forest enjoyed a thrilling 4-3 win over local rivals Romford.
The result takes the Stags to within four points of Ryman Division One North joint leaders Lowestoft Town, East Thurrock United and Thamesmead Town.
Meanwhile, Leyton played out a 2-2 draw with Maldon Town.
