ORIENT defender Ben Chorley knows the importance of making Brisbane Road a fortress.
And, with two wins in the last three games, the 'home hoodoo' that has hung over Orient may have finally been banished.
The weekend's 2-1 victory against League One new-boys Brentford made it three wins at the Matchroom Stadium so far this season, halfway to last season's tally already.
Home-sickness is something centre-back Chorley is not used to.
“When I was at Tranmere I think our home record was among the best in England,” he told the Guardian this week.
“The Brentford win makes it three so far this season. We should have had Carlisle too, but for a mistake. So we should have other points.
“They're the games we need to win.”
Last season, Chorley played in a Rovers side which won the second highest number of home games in all the country.
Only Manchester United and Preston North End bettered Rovers' record of 15 victories.
The contrast with Orient could not be more stark.
In 2008-09, just Chester City and Hull City won fewer home games than Orient's total of six.
Chorley dismissed suggestions that a mental block hits the team when they play at Brisbane Road.
“It's nothing to do with mentality,” he said. “The buck stops with us and we must make sure we get the results.
“I think we've played well. I think we've been unlucky and have not got the rub of the green.
“There's only one or two games where we've started bad, and teams have taken their chances.”
Chorley said he has struck up a strong partnership with Tamika Mkandawire in defence.
And the ex-Tranmere defender's skill in the tackle and in the air was so vital earlier on in the campaign, when Mkandawire's form suffered a wobble.
Now there are reasons to be cheerful he reckons, with skipper Stephen Purches back from a fractured cheekbone and Andrew Cave-Brown having performed well as his replacement.
Chorley said: “There have been unfortunate injuries to people. Once everyone's fit, I think we'll be a match for everyone in this league.
“We're organised and work hard during the week. I think we'll do well.
“The more people we have fit the better.
"Purch (Stephen Purches) had a nasty knock, so it's nice to have him back. Cavey (Andrew Cave-Brown) who came in for him has done brilliant, but unfortunately he pulled his groin.
“I think we have a good partnership, Tam (Tamika Mkandawire) and me. We get on well off the pitch. I think we're similar players. We both talk on the pitch and like to play football."
And Chorley's hopes are high ahead of the trip Huddersfield Town this weekend.
“We beat Wycombe away in our last away game, so we know we can do it. As long as we compete like we know that Huddersfield will, we will be okay.”
