LEYTON FC have donated all the money from ticket sales at their latest game to a young player who is recovering from a horror injury.

Perry Burns is out of action and unable to work since he broke his leg in action for Leyton against Enfield Town in a Ryman League Divison One North clash last month.

His injury was so serious, the game at Lea Bridge Road was abandoned, as the pacy winger left the pitch in an ambulance On Tuesday night, the fixture was replayed and Perry was given all the takings, to help him as he tries to return to football.

Doctors say that will not happen for a year.

Club spokesman Barry Abbott told the Guardian: “It’s definitely a blow for the team. Perry is a really lively winger and a very good young player. We have high hopes for him.

“He’s making good progress and we will continue to pay him as he goes through rehab. It’s affected him in a big way. We will continue to make sure he’s alright.”

The experience has not stopped Burns from coming to cheer on his team-mates. He attends most of Leyton’s games, home and away.

On Tuesday, an in-form Town side proved too strong for the hosts, but it was really a night when the result was not that important.

Town triumphed 3-0 to go third in the table. The defeat leaves Leyton in mid-table.

Mr Abbott said: “We were not very good, but it was a good night. We’re not doing well at the moment, as there’s been a high turnover of players.”

Leyton return to league action this weekend, when they travel to high-flying Concord Rangers.
