DAGGERS boss John Still believes the club could have a new left-back in place in time for Saturday's visit of Port Vale, following the departure of Scott Griffiths to Peterborough United last week.
The 23-year-old defender has moved to London Road on loan until January, although the deal is with a view to a permanent transfer, with the Victoria Road club set to recoup a sizable fee.
Still insisted it was club policy to allow players to further their careers at a higher level, although he revealed Griffiths' successor could be in place as early as the weekend.
"We are looking to bring someone in at the moment and before Saturday there is a possibility that we may have a new left-back,” he told Sky Sports.
"I didn't want to sell Scott but it's what we do. We had an offer for the player and he wanted to leave so away we went.
"It's how we survive at this level and players know that if they come here they can earn a move if they prove themselves.
"We have done that ever since I have been here and that will no doubt continue."
