WALTHAM ABBEY lost 5-3 to Harrow Borough last weekend in a game which has become a YouTube hit.
Abbey were 2-1 up minutes into the second half of the Ryman League Premier clash, when Harry Elmes fired the visitors ahead, after James Elmes had earlier equalised with a bending free-kick.
That was the spur for a glut of goals at each end as Harrow then drew level and went on to make home advantage tell.
Abbey briefly took a 3-2 lead through Billy Holland on 57 minutes but then shipped three unanswered goals.
Then in added time came the moment which will live forever in cyberspace.
With the win wrapped up, non-league legend Rocky Baptiste rounded Abbey keeper Joe Taylor and approached the goal-line unopposed. Then, apparently keen to fire the ball through the net, he shot wide from less than a yard out.
Unfortunately for him, the blooper was caught on tape and has now even been mentioned on national radio.
The net result for Abbey is that they lie in the drop zone.
But they can get out of it with a win against rock-bottom Bognor Regis at home this weekend.
On Tuesday, their Essex Senior Cup tie against Bowers & Pitsea was postponed.
Meanwhile, in Division One North, Waltham Forest produced a fantastic display on their way to holding table-toppers Great Wakering Rovers to a 2-2 draw.
Substitute Shamraz Darr’s 81st-minute header sealed a well-deserved point for the Stags.
Luke Stanley had earlier wiped out Rovers’ lead after good work by Victor Renner and Rob Carter.
Now Forest stand 14th in the table with a game in hand over some of their near rivals.
They will look to progress in the Ryman League Cup next Wednesday when they take on Canvey Island, but first travel to Harlow for a league game on Saturday.
Elsewhere in the division, Leyton have slipped into the relegation zone after being thumped 8-0 by Lowestoft Town.
New boss Ivan Persuad has it all to do and faces the task of reforming the current squad.
Leyton host Brentwood this Saturday.
