OLYMPIC gold-medalist boxer James DeGale finished the year unbeaten after a points win over journeyman Nathan King.
DeGale, who trains at Loughton Academy's state-of-the-art gym, did not produce his most clinical display, but he did enough to win the contest 40-37 in Newcastle, fighting on the undercard of Amir Khan's defence of his WBA crown against Dimitry Salita.
After an untidy performance, DeGale looked disappointed as the victory verdict was given after the four-round fight, although he did land 61 punches compared to his opponent's 27.
