Daggers drive for the a play-off spot stuttered with a 3-0 home defeat to Notts County, at Victoria Road.
Ben Davies scored twice either side of the half time break, and Abu Ogogo deflected Karl Hawley's effort past Tony Roberts with eight minutes to go.
County narrowly avoided financial meltdown today by finding up to £50m worth of investment, but they did not play like a team granted a last minute reprive for most of this game.
Dagenham and Redbridge had most of the possession but could not make it tell.
Paul Benson, normally a constant goal-threat, was quiet, either starved of service or closed down fast by County's solid backline.
Notts County drew a media circus to this match, and also ex-England boss Sven Goran Erikkson.
And his presence was the biggest highlight of a dry first half for Daggers fans.
Ben Davies put the visitor's ahead on 44 minutes with a sweeping shot from the left side of the area which beat keeper Tony Roberts on its way into the top right corner.
The goal could have been punishment for Dagenham and Redbridge for not capitalising on the lion's share of possession they enjoyed.
But County were hardly less wasteful. There was not a single shot on target by either side until five minutes from the half-time break.
Danny Green's free kick on 42 minutes which nestled comfortably in the arms of County keeper Kasper Schmeichel was the first time the Dane's gloves were warmed by a shot.
It came shortly after Josh Scott found the roof of the net from an acute angle on the left touchline.
Lee Hughes looked the visitors' main danger man fired wide for the visitors on four minutes and then again on the half hour mark Down the other end, Danny Spiller and Peter Gain were full of industry down the left flank, to little effect.
Then Daggers were two down with the second half hardly under way.
Green conceded a free kick 30 yards out. Davies' high ball into the box fooled everyone and ended nestled in the net.
In the manner of strikers everywhere, Hughes claimed it as his own.
Scott Doe denied Davies his hat-trick on the hour mark by stretching out a leg to clear Davies' header after Hughes hung a deep cross high in the air.
Daggers went direct in their quest to get back in the game. Scott was denied by a double save from Schmeichel on 62 minutes when he got into space inside the box, but opted to then try and round the Dane.
Daggers once again had most the possession but struggled to turn it into penetration as the game descended into a long ball fest.
County wrapped up a flattering win with goal number three on 82 minutes. Abu Ogogo was the unlucky man who deflection off Karl Hawley's shot totally wrong-footed Roberts in goal.
Daggers will want to put this result behind them as fast as possible.
