ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that he will focus on strengthening the club's defence in the transfer window this summer.
The Gunners fell away alarmingly in the latter stages of the season, surrendering their Premier League title bid, with Chelsea going on to pip Manchester United to the crown.
Wenger accepts he must bolster his squad in the transfer window, and has highlighted the defence as the main department that needs attention.
“Going forward we have done very well but defensively we have been average," said Wenger.
"When you concede 40 goals you don't win the title. I want to rectify that.
"My transfer policy this summer will be to keep our strengths going forward, add one player, and add more defensive strength to our team."
