Rotherham United v Dagenham & Redbridge
Wembley, Sunday, May 30

HEAD TO HEAD:

The last time Dagenham & Redbridge and Rotherham locked horns it was the Millers who came out on top.

Top scorer Adam Le Fondre, pictured left, pounced in the second half after Craig McAllister’s shot rebounded off keeper Tony Roberts. Substitute Phil Walsh missed two chances for Daggers.

In fact, that has been an all too familiar trend for the Daggers, who have failed to register one win in the teams’ six previous meetings, losing on four occasions and drawing twice.

THE OPPOSITION:

Rotherham’s passage to Wembley has not been smooth. The Millers got bogged down by snow storms last winter and lost twice to doomed Darlington in a month.

Before that there had been hopes for automatic promotion, but they just scraped into the play-offs.

DANGER MAN:

Thirty-goal hitman Adam Le Fondre’s strikes have carried the club to this occasion. The next nearest scorer at Don Valley has 11 goals.

Le Fondre wants to play at a higher level and Rotherham could lose him if the Daggers win on Sunday.

Light-bulb magnate chairman Tony Stewart has warned rival clubs off his star man, who has two years left on his contract.

DID YOU KNOW:

Rotherham know how win finals at Wembley, after Auto Windscreen Shield glory in 1996.

Club legend Ronnie Moore, pictured right, took charge soon afterwards and then guided the club to consecutive promotions.

Will history repeat for Moore in his second spell?

We at the Guardian are betting not and are predicting a thrilling 3-2 win for the Daggers.

BETTING TIP:

Paul Benson to get on the scoresheet first. The 21-goal striker has been Dagenham’s attacking linchpin and has delivered when the chips are down.
