DAGGERS chairman Dave Andrews will savour Wembley on Sunday as confirmation of how far the club has come from its dark days of non-league football.
He once feared the club could drop four steps down the non-league pyramid after Dagenham and Redbridge suffered relegation into the Ryman Premier division.
Now only Rotherham Utd stand between the club and a historic promotion to League One.
"When we appointed John Still in April 2004, I never dreamed that six years later we could be one match away from being members of the third tier of English football" he said.
"Every season since he returned to the club we've improved our league position.
Andrews said he has relished the sight of long queues for Wembley tickets at the club's ground in Victoria Road.
"I can't wait to hear all the supporters at Wembley on Sunday getting behind the team as I'm sure they will" he said.
"Our support this season has been unbelievable" Andrews told club sources.
