A Buckhurst Hill youngster is the youngest cricket umpire in the country.
Twelve-year-old Hugo Blogg has passed the tough examinations to which the England Cricket Board subjects would-be umpires, and now he can officiate a professional match between adults.
The Chigwell High pupil, who is in year eight at school, told Guardian Series Sport that he relishes being a child in a profession of adults.
He was given the chance to bypass the young officials training programme after he impressed those in the know at Essex County cricket. He then learnt the 42 rules which make cricket the sport it is.
The confidence which he displays, and the faith he has in his own judgement now means that young Hugo has the chance to fulfil a personal dream, and perform at the home of cricket, Lord's.
The match could happen in September and would surely make Hugo a record holder if he officiates it.
In next week's Guardian newspaper, Hugo tells us what qualities make a good umpire and why he loves umpiring the game as much as playing it.
