GOLFER Simon Khan was in poor form as he struggled to cope with tricky conditions on the first day of the Open at St Andrews.
During a rain-soaked, windy session yesterday, the 38-year-old from Chingford took just just two birdies during a two-over par round of 74.
Khan, was 56th on the leaderboard at the start of the second day.
The 38-year-old told the BBC: "We definitely had the worst of the weather.
"But really I just did not play well enough. I'm glad I've got the chance to put it right (today)."
Khan, winner of this year's PGA Championship at Wentworth, started well, dropping only one shot on the front nine.
But he dropped two more at the 11th and 13th.
He made his first birdie at 14, but bogeyed the 16th, before producing a stunning birdie on the penultimate hole.
