Thurrock 1
Dagenham & Redbridge 4
Pre-season friendly
DAGENHAM & Redbridge survived a brief scare to record a pre-season friendly victory over Thurrock last night.
The non-league outfit had taken a shock 22-minute lead through Matt Bodkin's superb solo effort.
However, the Daggers responded just eight minutes later, goalscorer Bodkin adjudged to have fouled striker Paul Benson in the box, and last season's top scorer dusted himself off to convert the resulting spot-kick.
A raft of changes were made by John Still at half-time, and the difference in class soon began to show.
Graeme Montgomery was fortunate to give Dagenham the lead, a goal-line clearance rebounding off his back and in to the net.
There was nothing lucky about his second goal though, as his shot from a tight angle found the corner of the goal on 69 minutes.
The scoring was eventually completed by midfielder Danny Green, who side-footed home number four after good work from Josh Scott.
