REDBRIDGE Swimming Club member Craig Moate won two gold medals at the recent Learning Disability National Championships in Sheffield.
Moate cantered to the 200m butterfly title, even smashing his own British record time of 2min 26 secs. Another personal best time arrived in the 50m fly as he finished second, but he was soon atop the podium once again as he triumphed in the 400m freestyle.
Two more second place finishes followed in the 200m free and 100m individual medley, while he was third in the 100m free.
Redbridge chief coach Paul Robbins said: “We’ve changed Craig’s training over the past few months and he has adapted well and it shows he still has the desire, commitment and talent to continue to improve.”
Meanwhile, two Redbridge swimmers made superb debuts in the weekend’s Open Water swim in Norwich.
Jessica Lambert and Charlie Dentith took the field for their first open water event and promptly won their categories.
Jessica swam the 800m race and won in a time of 11m 49 secs, beating her nearest competitor by over ten seconds.
Charlie also swam the 800m event and came first in a time of 10min 21 secs. He beat his nearest challenger by a whopping 1m 27 secs.
