Dagenham & Redbridge 1
Norwich City 0
Pre-season friendly
GAVIN Tomlin scored his first goal for Dagenham & Redbridge in a morale-boosting friendly victory over Championship outfit Norwich City in front of over 1,000 fans at Victoria Road last night.
The new arrival from Yeovil Town took no time to open his Daggers account in what became a familiar move for the team last season.
Winger Danny Green fizzed a low cross into the box that Tomlin was able to feed on, after the Canaries' defence had failed to clear the danger.
Tomlin had earlier threatened to give the hosts the lead but the sting was taken out of his shot by goalkeeper John Ruddy and a defender was able to clear his lines.
Green came close with a free-kick just before the interval, but Ruddy was up to the task.
Norwich got more of a foothold in the game in the second half, but it was the Daggers who came closest to scoring. Midfielder Romain Vincelot saw his header ricochet off the underside of the crossbar, with the rebound being cleared off the goal-line.
