Abbey are frustrated at West St as young side makes chances but does not convert them.
The visitor's had the best of the first half as Hertford were on put on the back foot at home, under the watchful eye of new Abbey boss Paul Wickington.
But Hertford held on, and the second period was a far tighter affair, with swathes of changes of players.
Now the Abbotts gear up for another pre-season friendly on Tuesday night, at home to St Alban's City.
