DAGENHAM & Redbridge started the new year as they finished the old one.
Following Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Brentford, the Daggers slipped to a 3-1 loss at home to high-flying Southampton.
After a goalless first half, Adam Lallana struck for the visitors two minutes after the restart.
Gully du Prado doubled the advantage with 15 minutes to go, before Josh Scott gave the hosts hope with a goal on 85 minutes.
But the Saints hit a third through Rickie Lambert to seal the points.
