DAGENHAM & Redbridge are now eight points from safety in League One after a home defeat by Rochdale on Saturday.
Chris O'Grady took advantage of some generous defending from Scott Doe to convert from 12 yards on 74 minutes.
Bas Savage had previously come close for the Daggers, while goalkeeper Tony Roberts even saw a header from a corner in the dying stages fly wide after he had joined the attack.
John Still's men are now second-bottom of the division, level on points with 24th-placed Walsall.
