DAGENHAM & Redbridge slipped back into the League One relegation places with a defeat at home to Peterborough on Tuesday.
David Ball struck twice inside the first eight minutes to suck the wind out of the Daggers' sails.
There was little to speak of in the way of chances down the other end, with the result leaving Dagenham in 21st place, occupying the final relegation spot.
A crucial clash against Notts County, who sit on the dotted line just one point above John Still's men, awaits on Saturday.
