DAGENHAM & Redbridge hauled themselves back out of the League One drop zone with a vital 3-1 win over fellow strugglers Notts County on Saturday.
Winger Danny Green was the architect for the Daggers with two goals and an assist to sink County at Victoria Road in a result that lifts the east Londoners up to 19th place, two points clear of the bottom four.
The home side took the lead on 16 minutes when Green latched on to goalkeeper Tony Roberts' long kick and volleyed over a cross for John Akinde to side-foot home.
The task was then made harder for County when Graeme Lee was shown a red card for bringing down Jon Nurse on his way to goal.
Green then lashed home the resulting free-kick to double the hosts' lead before the break.
Then, deep into first-half injury time, the winger was given the chance to double his tally from the spot when John Spicer was penalised for a foul on Akinde. He duly delivered, arrowing the ball inside the right-hand post.
County briefly restored hope of a comeback when Njogu Demba-Nyren headed home from a corner with 20 minutes to play, but the Daggers held firm.
