Waltham Forest manager Adawale Olejabi has moved to eradicate last season’s problems of a lack of goals by boosting his attacking options.

The Forest boss has secured 15 players to date for the coming season, with six of the side that ended the last campaign signed on for action again.

Former captain Gazmund Dauti has returned for a third spell at the club, as has fellow central midfield player Lukemann Mojeed, back after a spell at the now defunct Leyton.

Joshua Bonnett arrived on the transfer deadline last season and has continued to be among the goals after scoring five in six outings in the last campaign.

Strikers Joel Palmer and Richard Shittu are both still with the club, with Palmer also getting some game time playing in a wide right position, offering Olejabi another option.

Shittu, brother of Queens Park Rangers defender Danny, has gained much experience at Ryman and Conference regional level. Having returned to fitness after a series of injuries, he should prove a useful target man for Forest.

Jeff Hammond has also returned to the club, having turned out for Hitchin and Hemel Hempstead after he first joined in 2006.

The Forest manager has gone for youth as well, with a number of young signings catching the eye.

Goalkeeper Aaron Ormand has joined, having played for both Enfield and Leyton but there looks to be real firepower up front too.

Ryan Impert, brother of ex-Forest player Kareem, has joined from Essex Senior League outfit Barkingside and has already netted for his new club.

Billy Melton has also signed on and although mostly used as a second-half substitute so far, he has already bagged two goals for the club.

The goals have started to flow for Forest, scoring ten in their last three friendlies, but they slipped to a 4-3 defeat on Saturday at Hadleigh United.

Forest had the lead three times thanks to Antone Douglas, Shittu and Bonnett but they were unable to hold on for the win.

Tonight (Wednesday) sees them host Wingate & Finchley in their final warm-up match ahead of the season kick-off on August 20.

Waltham Abbey continued their pre-season preparations with a 4-1 success at home to Bishop’s Stortford.

Goals from Steve Cawley, Ayrton Coley, Gbenga Ladega and Xaniel Doku saw the Abbots claim the win.

Saturday will see the club complete their friendly schedule when they host East Thurrock United.
