Wanstead recorded their first victory in three matches as they defeated Chelmsford by 78 runs in the Essex Premier League.

Wanstead were inserted and started well making 92 before losing a wicket. The impressive run scoring continued and thanks to Merv Westfield (96) and Christian Burgess (64) Wanstead finished on 332 for eight.

Despite making 90 runs before losing a wicket Chelmsford were facing a mammoth task. Nicholas Bailey (52 not out) top scored but a total of 254 was not enough and Wanstead came away victorious.

Woodford Wells dominated their game against Ardleigh Green winning by 180 runs.

Green won the toss and put Wells in but it proved to be the wrong decision as Woodford made a strong score of 279. Number three Rishabah Shah was in sensational form as he hit 135 not out from just 128 balls.

In reply Green started badly and were in trouble early on, falling to 21 for three.

The bowling of Andrew Richardson (five for 30) was the main threat and Ardleigh were skittled for just 99.

Loughton came away with a hard fought 26 run victory against Colchester and East Essex.

After winning the toss and deciding to bat Loughton started badly as opener Faisal Shah was given out LBW after facing just three balls.

But the innings was steadied thanks to a strong display from the middle order, Usman Jan top-scoring on 89 and Loughton finished on 309.

It was a high score for Colchester to chase down and despite a 73 from Andrew Kennedy they could not reach their target and were all out for 283.

Shaun Gymer was the pick of the bowlers for Loughton taking four for 60.

South Woodford have their bowling attack to thank for completing a 44 run victory against Ilford.

After winning the toss Ilford decided to insert their visitors and it looked a good choice as Woodford could only make 186. Nick Browne (41) the best scorer from the batting line-up.

Ilford would have been confident of taking victory but the bowling of Richard Browne (three for 19) and Harry Shirt (three for 28) swung the game back into Woodford’s hands.

Browne cleared up the tail and Ilford were all out for just 142.
