A member of Redbridge Sports Centre is celebrating after winning the senior category of the European Water Ski Championships.
Russell Cox, 48, was crowned champion after the final races were held in Cardiff over the weekend, following a series of events across Europe.
Inspired by the World Championships held in Hunstanton seven years ago, Cox made a return to the sport after a break of more than 20 years.
His decision has reaped rewards as he has now been selected to represent Great Britain at the World Ski Race World Championships in Brisbane, Australia, in September.
Cox skis formula two at home and seniors abroad but will be skiing formula one in Australia behind a boat known as Psycho Clowns.
Competitors in the sport can reach speeds of up to 90mph and Cox is now working with a personal trainer in a bid to improve his fitness before flying out to Australia on September 7.
