Great Britain hockey star Iain Mackay will be on hand when Waltham Forest Hockey Club hold their open day on Saturday.
The club are inviting all to Walthamstow Academy, Billet Road, Walthamstow, to test out their skills on their astroturf pitches, as well as offering those who have played before the chance to give it another go.
Waltham Forest run four men’s and four women’s teams as well as a mixed side and a growing youth section.
Mackay, 26, will be on hand having competed in the European Championships in Mönchengladbach, Germany and will be hitting some practice shots with those attending.
He has been capped 58 times for England as well as representing Great Britain on 12 occasions.
Originally from Braintree, Essex, Mackay competed for England at the 2010 World Cup where the side finished fourth and is preparing for next year’s London Olympics.
Those wishing to attend need only bring a pair of comfortable trainers as the club will provide the necessary equipment.
The day will be split into three sessions. Youth players will play between 10am to 11am with beginners and those returning to the sport taking part between 11.15am and 12.15pm.
Regular players will be able to play between 12.30pm and 2pm.
