Senior Division Cup Round One
The biggest surprise came at Premier Division M & B Club where Division Two Forest Glade went through to the next round following a 2-1 victory. Mark Lacey scored both their goals while Chris Kerr netted for M & B.
Also winning against Premier opposition were Division Two Ryan F.C. who won 3-2 at home to Canning Town. Sean Mooney and Jay Dyer scored for Town, with Kirtis Mader, Israel Toko and Joe Lefly sharing the Ryan goals.
Galleywood, from the Premier Division, travelled to Division One Southminster St. Leonards where goals from Kris Sayers, after two minutes and 22 minutes, and Tim Rice, on 34 and 41 minutes, gave the hosts a 4-0 half-time lead. A goal two minutes into the second half from Taylor Lang made the final score 5-0 to the home side.
After 120 minutes and ten goals, Rayleigh Town finally went through at home to Westhamians 6-5 on penalties. Danny Downer scored a hat-trick and Teddy Watson two for the visitors, while Dan Barrington, Jack Gardener, Chris Baddeley, Jay Hansell and Ross Webster shared the Rayleigh goals.
Also needing extra-time was the match at Kelvedon Hatch where Leigh Ramblers held the League Champions to a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes before going down 3-1 in extra-time. Dean Longhurst scored for Leigh, with Steve Merrick, Chris Muir and Greig Taylor netting for Hatch.
Hutton travelled to Epping where three goals from Lukas Hall and singles by Ryan Plom, Chris Jones, Luke Meadwright and a Chris Kerr own goal gave them a 7-3 victory. Reece Clark, Jake Clark and Liam Clifford struck for Epping.
Frenford Senior were taken right to the wire at Basildon Town where the final score was 2-1 to the visitors. Tom Wolfe scored for Basildon but Dave Gipp and James Willmoth sent Frenford through.
The derby game at Runwell Hospital ended with a win for Old Southendian. Zac Hussain and Brad Davey scored for Runwell but two-goal Mark McHugh and Dave Polley and Mark Hampshire secured the 4-2 victory.
Springfield were reduced to ten men after 25 minutes when their goalkeeper was sent off. Hamid Zamani scored the resultant penalty for White Ensign but it took a Joe Emery goal to secure their side a 2-1 away win after Graham Hall netted for Springfield.
Goals from Brian Suchley, Eddie O’Brian and Reiss De Sousa gave Sungate a 3-0 win at home to Thurrock Reserves, while at Stambridge United Akay Bagdas scored four and Joe Cull and Daryl Sands one each as they beat Chingford Athletic 6-1. Steve Clarke-Johnson replied for Chingford.
Charleston Prince scored for Lakeside at Broomfield but it wasn’t enough as goals from Nic Horsnell, Zac Pace and Jon Cole put the hosts through.
Also going through at home were Leytonstone United, 3-2 to Ramsden. Bradley Sutton and Steve Corbell scored for Ramsden and Rhys Davies hit two and Chris Greenhow one for Leytonstone.
Upminster played host to Benfleet and it was the visitors who went through following a 4-2 victory. James Lakey and Lewis Elwood, from the spot, scored for Upminster but a Lee Wright own goal, a Tom Peck effort and two goals by Jordan Cox put Benfleet through
Premier Division
There was only one match in the top flight and it was newly-promoted Hannakins Farm who played host to a rampant Harold Wood Athletic, who won 7-3. George Lay, Ben Swift and Matt Mint scored for the hosts while six players - Oli Woodman, Stuart Williams, Chris Davis, Des Gallen, Joe Tungate and Dave Sadler, with two - shared the Wood goals
Senior Division One
Bishops Stortford Swifts signed Ernest Nester-Qordja before the match and it was his goal that earned his side a point from a 1-1 draw at home to Aldborough Athletic, whose scorer was John Whiteman Playing their first match since promotion, Wadham Lodge suffered only their second home league defeat in three seasons when goals from Matt Hearn, Rob King and Paul Hudson saw them lose 3-0 to Old Chelmsfordians.
Senior Division Two
Newly-promoted Castle United had their second six-goal total when they travelled to Roydon and won 6-1. Martin O’Rorke scored for the hosts but three-goal Chris Rowlett, Daniel Leka-Heron, with two, and Hasan Bacchus saw Castle comfortably to the win.
Senior Division Three
Catholic United travelled to Debden Sports and goals by Ryan Martin and Naby Sidibe, with two, sent them home with the points after a 3-0 victory.
Jack Stringer scored both the goals that gave Old Barkabbeyans a 2-1 win at home to Writtle. Ken Liddiard netted an own goal for the visitors.
Sam English and Gregg Lock scored for Shenfield A.F.C. but two goals each from Lee Springer and Dean Frett and one by Terry Griffin gave visitors Newham United a 5-2 win.
Reserve Division One
There was a tight match at Buckhurst Hill where visitors M & B Club finally ran out 4-3 winners. Billy Kilkham, John Munday and Stuart Bell scored for the hosts but two goals from James Lins and singles by Billy Davis and Bobby Jacobs secured their side the points.
Honours ended even at Frenford Senior where goals by John McPhail, Damon O’Neil and Reece Morley for Frenford were equalled by two from John Wicks and one by Rob McCarthy for Kelvedon Hatch in a 3-3 draw.
Josh Hart scored four, James Cheesewright two and Scott Wheeler one as Ramsden lost 7-0 at home to Rayleigh Town.
Two goals by Leon Lewis gave Aldborough Athletic a 2-1 win at Canning Town, whose scorer was Todd Wyatt, and at Harold Wood Athletic goals by Kane Anderson and Jamie Kingsley gave the home team a 2-1 win over Westhamians (Rob Clark).
A Stuart Green hat-trick secured Hutton a 3-1 win at home to Epping, with Ethan Porte netting their consolation.
Reserve Division Two
Dave Smith struck twice and Charles Cooney, Dan Gilby, Amin Zamani and Jed Searles once each as White Ensign beat visitors Leigh Ramblers 6-0.
Sandon Royals travelled to Herongate Athletic and goals by Mick Mann, Adam Collier, Paul Harvey and Guy Saunders gave them a 4-0 victory.
Reserve Division Three
Burnham Ramblers A were winning 2-1 at half-time at home to Writtle but went goal mad in the second half to make the final score 9-1. Ryan Lowe scored for Writtle but Dan Claxton scored four, Steve Fewell two and Billy Wiles, Charlie Quinn and George Hull got one each.
Also scoring four goals was John Kerrison as Lakeside won 6-1 at home to Catholic United. Bill Hutchinson netted Catholic’s consolation, while Dan Kappes scored the other two for Lakeside.
Paul Welsh scored twice for Toby at Newham United but a Danny Child hat-trick and goals from Ainsley Shaw and Demi Olajoyegbe gave the hosts a 5-2 win.
Old Southendian played host to Leytonstone United and both teams took a point from a 3-3 draw. Ashley Dean, Simon Gresh and Alex Cast scored for Southendian, with John Bolton, Scott Lambert and David Wood netting for United.
In the match between two of the league’s new teams, it was Old Barkabbeyans who took home the points from a 2-1 win at Chingford Athletic. Lawrence Kierans scored for the hosts but Mark Harrison and Wayne Power secured the points for the visitors.
