Great Britain hockey star Iain MacKay took time out of his busy training schedule to attend Waltham Forest Hockey Club’s open day on Saturday.
MacKay, fresh from winning a bronze medal at the EuroHockey Championship, held a coaching session for more than 70 of the club’s members and also took part in a question and answer session.
The England international, who has been capped 58 times and made an additional 12 appearances for team GB, also decided to show off his skills by joining in with a few of the games taking place.
Speaking after the event MacKay said: “I had a really good time meeting everyone at the club and it was very refreshing to see such eagerness to learn new skills and try out different things. I was made to feel really, really welcome.”
The open day marked the start of the new season for Waltham Forest, who begin their new campaign later on this month.
Waltham Forest Hockey Club are running free adult and children's training throughout September and October. If you are interested, please visit www.walthamforesthc.co.uk for more information.
